Cultus is an extraordinary new entry in our catalog that truly represents the realization of a dream we had from the beginning: to import foreign wines and sell them in bag-in-box format. Let's start with wines from Slovenia, more specifically from Vipavska (also known as Vipava), a wine region full of green and nature, perhaps less well known than the nearby Karst and Collio, but where you'll definitely need to stop by. Picturesque landscape, a tribute to clean air, craft vineyards and clear, transparent streams.

The people who dreamed up and now lead Cultus winery are Matej, a winemaker with a real passion for ecology and sustainability, who is the king of the vineyard and winery, along with his wife Carolin, who takes care of everything else, from business strategy to communication via hospitality and, when necessary, on the production as well. Currently they work on 4 hectares of vineyards and here the typical varieties are Malvasia Istriana, Zelen, Pinela and Riesling. Among the rows they practice organic farming and most of the work is done manually.

Cultus is based in Podraga, in the Vipava production area, the winery is small, family-owned and historic-dated 1683, the oldest in the Vipava Valley- fresh from a very recent renovation that, however, did not take away its authenticity and luster. When we visited it was the summer of 2023 and the works were in the final stages, the only thing missing was electricity and therefore light so we enjoyed the wines in the tasting room, lit only by a candle. Pure poetry!
