A family vineyard, two people, and a passion for doing things properly.

Tommaso is a winemaker, Agnese an architect and together they represent the Tommaso Cappa Winery. They met in Dogliani after years spent studying, working and travelling across Italy, France and South America. In 2020, while the world suddenly came to a halt, they decided to stop for real. There was one hectare of family vineyard that had been managed by a neighbour for years. Why not take care of it themselves? So they began: marking the vines that needed replacing, converting the vineyards to organic farming and producing their first thousand bottles. Today they make around ten thousand, but the spirit remains the same: growing slowly, respecting the rhythms of the land and the people who cultivate it.

With Tommaso Cappa we are in Valdibà, one of the historic hills of Dogliani Dolcetto, just before the Langhe give way to Alta Langa. The vineyards surround a small hamlet hidden among the woods, far from the busiest wine routes. For Tommaso and Agnese, this is a privilege: living in a landscape where forests, biodiversity and agriculture still coexist. In the cellar, fermentations happen spontaneously and intervention is kept to a minimum, allowing each wine to truly reflect the vintage and the place it comes from. Here, territory is not a slogan but the foundation of every decision.

We immediately connected with the way Tommaso Cappa works. For Tommaso and Agnese, wine is made first in the vineyard and only then in the cellar: observing, understanding and intervening only when necessary. They farm organically, with great respect for the environment around them and without chasing trends or shortcuts. The result is a collection of artisanal, honest and terroir-driven wines that express Dogliani with simplicity and character. It is exactly why we chose to work with them: because they prove that an everyday wine can be authentic, sustainable and anything but ordinary.
