The butterfly as a life mantra: looking for a light drink.
With Marta Valpiani we are in Romagna, precisely to Castrocaro Terme Terra del Sole, between Forlì and Predappio, an area of genuine gastronomy and agriculture. The winery is now run by Elisa Mazzavillani, Marta's daughter, who with a creative spirit and infinite respect for Nature honors the agricultural project started by her parents. The graphic and spiritual symbol of this winery has always been the butterfly - always part of the company logo and image on the label of the youngest Sangiovese in the line - synonymous with lightness, balance and beauty; these same values are rediscovered in the wines signed by Marta Valpiani.
The history of the Marta Valpiani winery is linked to the tradition of cask wine for explicitly environmental reasons. Elisa, an accountant by training, has always had two fixed nails in her head: process optimization and zero waste.
So in 2018 he decided to buy a small semi-automatic machine for packaging bag in box and to dedicate a part of his wine production to this format, more sustainable in terms of CO2 emissions if compared with the classic glass bottle. Her idea of bulk wine? "A healthy and less demanding drink that brings joy, able to bring even the youngest kids closer to the consumption of wine".
Marta Valpiani is focalized on grapes from Romagna hills from il Sangiovese to Grechetto and Albana. The bulk wine has always been the first harvest of all the vineyards, mostly located at 300 meters above sea level on the steep slopes of the Bagnolo hill. The company is certified organic on the label, but the details of biodynamic agriculture are followed in the vineyard, always paying attention to the moon and its cycles.
